Gym at MAFA
Every single year in December, it is a common trend amongst millennials to prepare clichéd New Year resolutions concerning the perennial quest to achieve certain fitness goals. Upon entering the New Year, one can see hordes of rather motivated people lining up outside expensive regular gyms, with great determination to achieve their fitness goals. However, soon the infamous monotony of regular gyms begins to creep in, and people start losing interest quickly, leading to comparatively emptier gyms as January ends. Why does this happen? Ever wished for an alternative to the boring and repetitive options offered at regular gyms? Have you ever wondered how quickly you might achieve your desired fitness goals if you stay focused on your particular fitness regime without ever losing interest? Martial arts is just what the doctor ordered. Not only is it a complete full body workout for people from all walks of life, martial arts training is known to have several advantages over regular exercising. In this article by MAFA, we will talk about how training in martial arts can offer you more benefits then simply lifting weights day in and day out at a regular gym. Read on for more information.
Going to the gym versus martial arts training
Regular gym are good for a while, but you soon get the feeling of being a hamster in a wheel. There is no stimulation and motivation. Sure you can get the help of a personal trainer; but that costs a bundle on top of your already high membership. Finding a good martial art that you like is much better than being the hamster in the wheel at the regular gym. At Martial Arts Fitness Academy, you can choose from different martial arts like: Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, or if you do not wish to participate in combat activity, we also offer group fitness classes!
How to workouts at the gym compare to martial arts?
The average martial arts class goes for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. In this time you will be doing a warm up/cardio routine, sparring and drilling followed by a cool down and stretch. Burning around 1000 to 1200 calories per class. Compared to running on a treadmill, if you were to run on the treadmill for the same amount of time you would only burn 600 to 700 calories.
Will I like going to a martial arts gym?
Martial arts gyms, like MAFA, also have a wonderful community atmosphere. You will meet different people, make new friends, become part of a team who have similar interests and learn a self defence. As well as build self-confidence, self-esteem, self-respect and awareness. You will lose weight and gain back your health and fitness. Unlike normal gym’s where you have to regularly change your workout to work all of your muscles and fitness areas; such as cardio, strength, endurance, speed, agility and flexibility. Martial arts offer all of those things, as well as having an instructor to guide you through your workout and learning process. You will be pushed, you will struggle, you will succeed and you will be a stronger, better person because you pushed yourself. You will learn about your body and learn how to push through tough situations as well as using your brain for strategy, logic and physics.
